Pukete Neighbourhood House is a council-owned community building in Pukete, Hamilton. We delivered a 65kWp DC, 50kW AC commercial solar system there in December 2025, turnkey, for Downey Construction, with Hamilton City Council as the end client. That covers the design, the structural engineering, the install on a Dimondek profiled metal roof, the commissioning and the live monitoring. It's the kind of job where the engineering and the site coordination matter as much as the panels themselves.
The building was still under construction when we came in. The roof is a Dimondek profiled metal roof, so the mounting had to match the profile exactly, the structure had to take the extra loading, and the whole install had to fit around a live construction site and Downey Construction's build programme. Because the end client is Hamilton City Council, the system had to meet council standards and come with proper engineering documentation, not just a handover sheet.

We delivered the project turnkey, from structural verification through to a live, monitored system handed over to Downey Construction and Hamilton City Council. Every part of the system was specified, engineered and fitted by our own registered crew.
The engineering coordination is what sets a proper commercial install apart from just bolting panels to a roof. On a Dimondek roof going onto a council building, the structure and the fixings had to be right, and we had the paperwork to prove it.
The roof is a Dimondek profiled metal roof. We matched the Clenergy SolarRoof mounting system to the exact profile so the fixings land correctly and the roof's weather-tightness and warranty aren't compromised.
We pull-tested the roof fixings to confirm the mounting would hold the designed wind and dead loads before committing to the full array.
The roof structure was checked for the added panel and wind loading, so the building is signed off for the extra weight.
Independent engineering sign-off was obtained before install, giving Downey Construction and Hamilton City Council the documentation they needed.
We worked within Downey Construction's build programme and site rules, sequencing the solar around the other trades and keeping the programme moving.
The Dimondek roofing profile needed a clamp mounting system. At the time of the project, Clenergy didn't have a certified fixing solution available for this specific roof profile. Rather than hold the job up, we carried out roof pull-out testing in-house to generate the engineering data needed for structural verification. The completed testing was independently reviewed and accepted by both Clenergy and Dimondek, so the mounting solution could be approved and installed while the construction programme kept moving. This approach avoided delays, maintained the construction programme and provided an engineered fixing solution accepted by both Clenergy and Dimondek.
Commercial solar isn't only about performance. The finished installation should also look like it belongs on the building. The DC cable tray lid was powder coated to match the roof colour, so the cable management blends into the roof instead of standing out. It makes no difference to the electrical performance, but it's the level of finish we aim for on commercial work.

A few things worth understanding if you're planning a commercial solar build.
A Dimondek profiled metal roof needs a clamp mounting system, and not every clamp is certified for every profile. When there's no off-the-shelf certified fixing, the mounting has to be engineered and tested for that specific roof before it goes on.
Solar panels and mounting add weight and wind load to a roof. Structural verification confirms the building can take that loading, so the install is signed off properly rather than guessed.
Commercial roofs, live construction sites and council clients come with real compliance and documentation requirements. Engineering coordination means the structural, electrical and building sides all line up before the panels go up.
Live monitoring shows how the system is actually performing, flags faults early and gives the building owner proof of the generation. On a commercial system, that data is part of the handover, not an extra.
Bringing the solar contractor in during the build, not after it, lets the system be designed around the actual roof, the actual load and the build programme. It avoids retrofitting, redesign and the delays that come from bolting solar on as an afterthought.
The system is sized to offset a big chunk of the building's daytime load. Here are the headline numbers, scannable rather than buried in a paragraph.

Every component is commercial-grade and matched to the roof and the load.

Live monitoring is set up through the GoodWe SEC1000, with remote performance reporting. We also handle ongoing monitoring and servicing for the systems we install.
This is a council-owned community building, delivered turnkey during construction for a commercial builder, with Hamilton City Council as the end client. It shows we can handle the engineering, the paperwork and the site coordination, not just the panel fitting. Downey Construction and Hamilton City Council get a documented, engineered system with monitoring, and the building runs on solar for the community that uses it. It's a strong example of commercial solar done properly in Hamilton. It also shows our ability to work alongside builders, engineers and consultants during construction, so the solar system is fully integrated into the project rather than bolted on afterwards. That's an important difference for commercial clients.
